Since its founding eight years ago, SideXSide Studios has grown from a two-person operation focused on nonfiction production to a documentary and creative video agency with a global reach with production hubs in Washington, DC, and Vienna, Austria. Our list of clients includes Fortune 500 companies, leading nonprofits, and the premiere museum design firm. 

Job Description 

SideXSide Studios is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, creative Producer with strong communication and project management skills who will be an essential part of all three production phases, working alongside the Creative Director. The Producer will be the primary communicator externally and internally. They will manage the projects they are assigned to, keeping their slate moving on schedule and on budget. They are also key creative collaborators working alongside the Creative Director, conducting interviews, writing scripts, and developing original story ideas. The Producer will report to the Senior Producer. 

The role has three key areas of work: 

  1. Commercial Client Projects 80%
    1. Managing client communication and leading projects from pre-production through post-production and final delivery
    2. Ensuring internal and external teams are kept aware of project status, including crafting, maintaining, and adjusting delivery schedules
    3. Managing online client portals 
    4. Creating production documents 
    5. Conducting pre-interviews with subjects
    6. Story development
    7. Researching, planning, and executing production logistics, including creating shoot schedules, booking crew, researching & booking travel, writing interview questions, etc.
    8. Creating and actualizing budgets for review by Senior Producer 
    9. Field producing, including some travel
    10. Writing scripts for review by Senior Producer
  1. Marketing and External Communication 10%
    1. Writing marketing material, including social media posts and website copy, for review by the Director of Business Development
    2. Help craft pitch material and RFP responses
  1. Original Projects 10%
    1. Project research and story development 
    2. Producing pitch materials
    3. Assist with producing tasks as needed


The successful candidate will have: 

  • 1-3 years of experience as the lead producer on projects, including experience with line producing and on-set 
  • Successfully demonstrated ability in project management, and can spearhead and lead a creative project from conception through completion in a collaborative environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication, using clear and direct language
  • Understanding and experience balancing multiple projects’ needs, assessing and adjusting priorities as needs shift, staying a few steps ahead and thinking holistically about the project slate
  • An ambitious mindset, self-motivation, and creative problem-solving skills 
  • Experience with and a natural within the Google Suite ecosystem
  • A keen understanding of (or interest in) how new technology and distribution models are changing our industry and impacting clients
  • An empathetic approach to producing, and experience working with subjects who require sensitivity and genuine connection 
  • A bachelor’s degree
  • Special consideration given to those with fluency in more than one language

SideXSide Studios is based in Silver Spring, MD, and preference will be given to candidates from the Washington, DC metro area, with secondary priority given to those based in New York. However, this position could be remote for the right applicant. Occasional travel, both national and international, should be expected. 


  • Base salary $70,000-$77,000 based on experience
  • End of year bonus up to 5% of salary
